Job Summary
Working closely with the CEO and COO, as Director of Digital Media & Social you will develop and lead the implementation of effective social media plans to drive engagement, distribute TransLash’s content and enhance brand awareness in order to deepen organizational reach and impact. You will manage employees and supervise a suite of pivotal contractors including influencers, world-class visual and web designers, illustrators, and multimedia graphics specialists.
As Director of Digital Media you will help drive immersive, multi-media digital storytelling across platforms including web, SMS, mobile applications, digital and in-person events.
In partnership with TransLash’s team leaders you will play a key role in how TransLash’s array of media offerings come to life and connect with TransLash’s audiences through social media and digital media with sophisticated and ADA-informed perspectives. Moreover you will work with TransLash’s partners including traditional over-the-top, print, podcast, and film partners to support branded digital campaigns around the organization’s work.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Direct, develop and execute campaigns on digital and social media platforms to increase engagement, expand TransLash’s online community, enhance brand awareness, and strengthen cross-platform brand integrations, generate subscriptions and meet e-commerce goals. This includes working with agencies and talent to deliver the most impactful experiences;
- Day-to-day management of the digital and social media employees, contractors and content creators;
- Collaborate closely with the CEO, COO, and a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to develop and execute content plans and deliverables;
- Work closely with TransLash content teams including Podcast, Film, News & Narrative and the Zine to both ensure cohesive messaging and maximize the impact of social media efforts; as well as drive individual goals for each including the launch of new media products and initiatives;
- Foster and execute strategic partnerships with other values-aligned social platforms;
- Formulate data benchmarks and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual digital and social reporting deliverables to support planning;
- Interpret and analyze all available data to make recommendations to content teams and Senior Management based on those insights.
- Branded campaigns; relevant to topics and goals, across platforms, integrating digital and social media platforms across TransLash
- Drive organizational goals, as well as those for specific content verticals, through effective content curation and community management strategies;
- Stay up to date on the latest analytics tools, vendors and social agencies that will best move our business forward;
- Work with the team to build original social-first content, including gifs, memes, and other branding-related tools.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of ten years of experience conceptualizing and executing digital content experiences and social media campaigns;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience launching new media brands;
- Minimum of 5 years experience in team management;
- Minimum of 3 years experience at an established news or media organization;
- Past work as an editor or writer strongly preferred;
- Deep understanding of the trans, and broader LGBTQ+ community is required;
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent;
- Master’s degree preferred.

- Excellent organizational, project planning, presentation, and time management skills with meticulous attention to detail and problem-solving abilities;
- A thorough and constantly evolving understanding of user experience design principles and applications;
- Proficiency in utilizing diverse software tools and technologies, including web development platforms, content management systems, and multimedia authoring tools;
- Ability to identify ongoing needs and opportunities and to communicate them to TransLash senior management and leadership;
- In collaboration with the COO, manage relationships and collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure success;
- Proficiency in mentorship and training especially for members of the digital and social team and contractors;
- Ability to manage freelance contract support for digital and social needs;
- Availability and ability to travel domestically and internationally as a representative of TransLash Media as requested, and be comfortable with working remotely in different environments.

Physical Requirements:
- Remaining in a stationary position, often sitting or standing for prolonged periods.
- Prolonged periods working on a computer.
- Communicating with others to exchange information.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
Compensation:
- $135,000 annual salary + benefits
TransLash Media work/life balance policy:
- This is an exempt role; there is no overtime compensation for duties and at times it will be necessary for you to work over 40 hours per week and occasionally on weekends, as well as working remotely from other locations domestically and internationally as requested.
- TransLash Media recognizes how intense and triggering our work can be; when you work over 40 hours per week, you can confer with the COO to adjust your schedule and take additional paid time off within 3-5 business days of the overtime period to support your physical and mental health.
