Coalition for Healthy Democracy - Campaign Manager

Remote
Temporary
Experienced

The Coalition for Healthy Democracy Ballot Question Committee seeks a Campaign Manager to lead all aspects of the building phase for a 2026 Massachusetts ballot campaign to enact key reforms to increase voice and choice in our elections: an all-comers, nonpartisan preliminary election system to replace partisan primaries; and a campaign finance provision ending the influence of foreign governments in our elections.

You will take the helm of a campaign at a time when there is building momentum for democracy renovation in Massachusetts. You will report to the Coalition Cabinet, including its ex officio members, Committee Chair, John Griffin, and senior advisor, Danielle Allen.

What You’ll Do:

Lead development of a two-year campaign plan, assisted by a supporting coalition and senior advisors Doug Rubin and Brian Wynne. You will be responsible for all elements and stages of a successful campaign, including fundraising, legal drafting, strategic planning, data and research, public education and communication JP s, signature collection, and voter identification and mobilization.

Manage all aspects of the campaign, including campaign staff and consultants, while ensuring implementation of the Committee’s vision.

Hire and oversee campaign personnel, including a finance director and field director, as well as consultants.

Lead your team to victory; role-model vision, leadership, and values.

Ensure successful completion of strategic goals; work with the Chair and coalition members to establish and assess those goals.

Manage and expand the coalition supporting the ballot initiative while identifying and mitigating likely opposition.

Craft and implement a full communications strategy, including building relationships with the press.

Serve as a public-facing spokesperson and ambassador for the Committee’s values and policy goals.

Who You Are:

A campaign professional and expert manager with at least two cycles of leadership experience on a competitive candidate, ballot, or issue campaign at the statewide or similar level.

A proven leader with a track record of building strong teams and leading them to success.

Knowledgeable about best practices and tools for base-building, volunteer recruitment, and mobilization.

Passionate about increasing democratic participation and political engagement in Massachusetts.

A communicator who is comfortable expressing ideas and representing the Committee in both spoken and written formats.

Someone who values collaboration across parties, ideologies, and issue areas.

A democracy renovator who is passionate about advancing the right to vote, the right to run, and the right for people to see and shape their own communities.

We know that imposter syndrome and the confidence gap can prevent strong candidates from applying to a job unless they see themselves as a 100% fit.
