POSITION: Managing Director

LOCATION: Remote

COMPENSATION: $140,000-$180,000 annual

The name of the organization is currently confidential. 

As the corporate oligarchs and their enablers seize the state and advance a terrifying agenda, there is an urgent need to respond with a powerful movement. We are all asking ourselves what we are called to do and how to make space to respond to that call. We have pulled together a team of seasoned movement campaigners, leaders, researchers and leaders who are working together to strengthen‬  and expand a multiracial economic populist movement that challenges‬ ‭ corporate authoritarians, and lays the groundwork of building the‬ ‭ economy and society we need. The Managing Director will support this growing movement to challenge the new regime and build the society, economy, and democracy that we all need and deserve.

The Managing Director will set up and maintain basic operational infrastructure, including legal, security, accounting, Google Suite, and other systems. They will oversee and manage the budget, and they will support team workflow planning and coordination. 

The successful candidate has extensive experience implementing and managing operations, budgets and teams, ideally within a non-profit, union or PAC organization, and a track record of supporting staff and building a positive and strong team culture.

Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management - Set up all basic operational infrastructure for the organizations (likely multiple entities), including legal, security, accounting, file management, team communication and other systems. The Managing Director will then maintain and manage all operational infrastructure.
  • Budget Oversight - Set up and manage the budget, including guiding bookkeeping and cost and revenue projections.
  • Team Coordination - Ensure that the team has clear processes in place for planning, communications and workflow.
  • Program Management - Manage aspects of programmatic research, campaign and/or organizing, to be determined based on experience and interest. 

Requirements

  • A minimum 10 years of experience in operations management, ideally within a non-profit, union or PAC setting; at least 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated track record of setting up new operational and administrative systems, including accounting, legal, and security
  • Expertise with budget management
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Experience working in a remote setting with team members
  • Demonstration of a strong, consistent, and dependable work ethic
  • Analyze facts and express conclusions clearly, logically, and concisely
  • Detail-oriented and excellent time-management skills

Compensation

This is a full-time plus job. It will start as a 1099 contract position with an intention of expanding to a full time salaried role.

Rate will be $15,000/month to start on contract and the salary will be $148,000.
