About Powered by Faith

Powered by Faith is a time-bound strategic initiative mobilizing faith communities across traditions—Black churches, Evangelicals, Muslims, Jews, Catholics, Mainline Protestants, and interfaith organizations—to defend democracy and counter authoritarianism. Through mass organizing, coordinated campaigns, and shared moral leadership, Powered by Faith supports a diverse leadership cohort and builds infrastructure for lasting engagement by people of faith in public life. Rooted in values of love, justice, and inclusive democracy, the initiative operates with urgency over a 12–24 month window to activate the moral power of organized religion in defense of democratic norms.

Position Overview

We are seeking an extremely organized, systems-oriented and mission-aligned Project Coordinator to support the operational and logistical backbone of Powered by Faith. This person will be comfortable working in a start-up environment and work closely with the Lead Organizer and leadership team to ensure the initiative’s infrastructure runs smoothly. This will include coordinating across internal systems, external partners, and a diverse cohort of senior leaders with a focus on logistics and grants management. While this role is primarily administrative and coordination-focused, a strong understanding of programmatic priorities (e.g., faith organizing, democracy work, or narrative strategy) and experience with grant processes (submitting proposals, reports, supporting relationship management) will be essential to be most effective.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Coordination & Communication
    • Manage day-to-day coordination across internal team members, cohort leaders, and external partners.
    • Maintain calendars, timelines, and task lists to ensure all moving pieces stay aligned.
    • Support the preparation, scheduling, and facilitation of meetings, including supporting the preparation of materials, agendas, notetaking, and follow-up.

  • Operational & Logistical Support
    • Serve as main point of contact for operational coordination with the Amalgamated Charitable Foundation
    • Coordinate convenings (virtual and in-person), including tech setup, vendor management, contracts, materials preparation, and participant outreach.
    • Maintain clear documentation of plans, budgets, deliverables, and contracts in collaboration with the Lead Organizer.
    • Manage grant administration by liaising with the fiscal sponsor, Lead Organizer, faith leads, and funders—handling proposals, reports, timelines, and submissions.
    • Submit grants and supporting documents promptly and to high standards.
    • Ensure timely disbursement of grant funds to Powered by Faith leadership. Finalize and execute contracts with Powered by Faith leadership.

  • Administrative Backbone
    • Manage file organization, team tools, and project dashboards using platforms like Google Workspace, etc.
    • Assist with light editing, formatting, or production of memos, reports, and communication materials.
    • Track deliverables and timelines for cohort leaders, advisory team, and partner organizations.

  • Program Awareness & Alignment
    • Stay grounded in the core values, constituencies, and strategic priorities of the initiative to coordinate with context.
    • Anticipate needs and proactively support cross-faith alignment and cohesion as strategic interventions evolve.

Ideal Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in nonprofit, movement, or campaign environments with excellent administrative or coordination responsibilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage complex workstreams and multiple stakeholders.
  • Clear, effective written and verbal communication skills, with an attention to detail and professionalism.
  • Comfort working with people of diverse backgrounds and deep respect for faith traditions and spiritual language.
  • Experience with digital tools such as Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, Notion and project management platforms.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote environment, while maintaining steady coordination with teammates.
  • Familiarity with or interest in faith-based organizing, narrative change, or pro-democracy efforts is a plus.
