Director of Development
A national non-profit organization in the climate advocacy space is seeking a Director of Development. The name of the organization is withheld until late April.

About the position
The Director of Development will be responsible for the full range of activities to write and submit exceptional grant proposals and reports; to prepare the CEO to conduct high-impact meetings with funders; and to develop and to execute robust cultivation and stewardship strategies. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer, storyteller, and researcher who is highly organized and can create custom content to inspire new and current funders to invest in the organization. The Director of Development will:

Grant Writing & Management (60%)
  • Write exceptional grant proposals and reports, letters of inquiry, and concept memos, that effectively and succinctly capture the organization's work and impact
  • Manage internal grants calendar and schedule to ensure proposals, deliverables and reports are submitted on time
  • Work across the organization to ensure grant requirements are met in a timely and coordinated fashion
  • Help to build and maintain the organization's database of foundation funders and prospects, and ensure accuracy of recording funder histories, activities, and profiles
Prospect Research (20%)
  • Research new institutional prospects to build and to diversify the organization's funder pipeline
  • Work with the CEO and Board Members to expand the pipeline for new sources of support
  • Research and provide robust meeting prep to the CEO when meeting with new or current funders
Cultivation, Stewardship & Other Development Support (20%)
  • Support and partner with the CEO on cultivation and stewardship strategies, including building the individual donor pipeline with a focus on Major Donors (gifts $100K+)
  • Work with the CEO and Board Members to steward funders through meetings, communications, presentations, bespoke outreach, and funder appreciation
  • Manage stewardship calendar and schedule to ensure that we are designing and executing on a comprehensive touchpoint strategy throughout the year
  • Provide support to other donor relations functions when needed
Qualifications:
  • At least 3-5 years of full-time work experience, including demonstrated success in proposal writing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Displays exceptional project management skills with a proven ability to meet and to complete multiple deadlines and tasks
  • Fluency with effective funder communications practices
  • Self-starter, comfortable in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment
  • Works with diplomacy and tact at all times, and without ego. Leverages input to push work to the next-level
  • Flexible and adaptive to effectively manage changing priorities and new opportunities
  • Proficient with Google, Microsoft Suites, and experience with a CRM system
  • Understands the funding landscape in which the organization operates
Location: This is a full-time remote position with the ideal candidate located in New York City.
Salary: $100,00 to $125,000
