The Child Care For Every Family Network brings together the people directly involved in and impacted by child care—parents, providers, organizers and advocates—to build a racial and gender justice-centered child care system that is accountable to those who have been most harmed by our lack of investment and currently underfunded programs. We are convening families, organizations, and providers across localities, states, and the nation to develop shared strategies to fundamentally transform child care.

 

POSITION SUMMARY


The Senior Communications Manager plays an integral role for the Child Care for Every Family Network. Reporting to the Co-Director, this position leads on driving communications for the Network, including: supporting strong communication within our Network, sharing about the Network in external communications, providing and coordinating communications support to local/state/national campaigns, managing key Network communications and narrative projects, supporting communications-focused work groups, and developing key materials and tools. This is a senior role and requires a strong background in campaign communications work and narrative development work that focuses on advancing racial, gender and economic justice.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS


  • Develop and manage a strong and effective Network voice that conveys our core values of racial, gender and economic justice to a variety of audiences and stakeholders
  • Support network-wide equity, inclusion and belonging work
  • Oversee and manage all messaging and communications, working with all program areas to ensure continuity in communications and messaging
  • Develop and implement high-level communications strategies that will strengthen the Network and support our partners
  • Provide staffing support to network leadership, work groups and constituency groups as assigned; with a focus on supporting the Communications and Narrative Work Group
  • Support the other staff with their communications and development of materials, including but not limited to developing presentations, briefs, and organizing collateral
  • Actively engage, cultivate and manage press relationships, and manage earned and paid media
  • Train and support a variety of leaders within the Network to serve as spokespeople in earned/paid media
  • Manage communications projects, vendors, and contractors
  • Oversee our website and social media channels, developing engagement strategies and content for each, managing ongoing updates
  • Oversee development of high-quality print and email communications collateral
  • Help to develop and implement strategic communications plans for the Network and in support of partner campaigns
  • Help to identify, develop and coordinate communications-focused technical assistance to partners
  • Facilitate peer-to-peer learning opportunities to support communications work among partners
  • Support the engagement of Network members and allies; including developing ways to share relevant information as needed
  • Support strong internal communications with Network members and allies
  • Support collaboration with other networks and partners within and across movements
  • Identify opportunities for the network to grow its work and impact
  • Work closely with policy, organizing and other network staff and leads to inform their work
  • Support measuring network progress, data collection and reporting
  • Expertise in EveryAction or a similar system

 

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY


  • Commitment to Child Care for Every Family Network’s mission and values
  • Commitment to personal anti-racism work 
  • Experience with, and preference for, working in a racially and culturally-diverse environment with people of all abilities and backgrounds
  • 5+ years experience in campaign communications and narrative work with a focus on racial/gender/economic justice 
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with similar organizations
  • Demonstrated experience in communications to support movement building and power-building work
  • Have excellent time and project management skills.
  • Is able to work independently and within a collaborative and interdependent team environment
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Have strong computer skills, including, Microsoft Office, Google programs, video conferencing technology and CRM platforms
  • Able to work from home with a fully remote team

 

VALUED AND NON-ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY

  • Fluency in Spanish or another language

 

Compensation and Benefits


Salary range: $96,000-$115,425

Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package that includes 100% employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance; 3% automatic contribution and a 3% employer match on 401(k) contributions; pre-tax transportation benefits; and paid holiday, vacation, sick, and volunteer time.
